Arrow keys move. Enter on a dot or a line starts drawing; Enter again stops.
How to play Link Puzzle
Link Puzzle is a logic puzzle on a square grid. Each colour has two dots. Draw a line between every pair so that the lines fill the whole board.
The rules
- Join each pair of dots of the same colour with one line.
- Lines go up, down, left and right, from cell to cell. They never go diagonally.
- Lines never cross and never share a cell.
- Every cell of the board must be part of a line.
The board is solved when every pair is joined and no cell is left empty. Each board has exactly one solution, so you never have to guess.
How to draw
- Draw a line: press a dot and drag to its partner. Drag back over your line to shorten it.
- Change a line: press any cell of a line and keep drawing from there. Drawing across another line cuts it.
- Keyboard: move with the arrow keys. Press Enter on a dot or a line to start drawing, use the arrows to draw, and press Enter again to stop.
- Undo takes back your last line, Hint draws one line for you (three per board), and Clear lines starts the board over.
- The ? button above the board opens a short tour of the rules.
Moves
Each time you draw with a different colour from the one you drew last, that counts as one move. Going on with the same colour is not a new move. The fewest moves possible is one per pair: join each pair in one go and never come back to it. Your fewest moves for each size is shown when you solve a board.
Board sizes
| Size | Pairs | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 5×5 | 4–6 | A first game, or a quick break |
| 6×6 | 5–8 | Warming up |
| 7×7 | 5–9 | A steady challenge |
| 8×8 | 6–10 | Longer lines that wind round each other |
| 9×9 | 7–11 | The longest boards |
Tips
- Start at the edges and corners. A dot in a corner has only two ways out, so its line is often forced.
- Look for short pairs. Two dots close together usually join by the shortest way.
- Watch for dead ends. A cell with only one free neighbour can only be the end of a line, so a line must pass next to it or end there.
- Fill as you go. If a corner of empty cells can only be reached by one colour, that colour must wind through it.
